Band Program Hosts Seventh FFCC Regional, Home Teams Earn Second Silvers

Yesterday the Band Program hosted its seventh annual Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit regional, the Showcase of Champions. Taking place under strict health and safety measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic—including mandatory face coverings for all students, spectators and staff; reduced capacity in the gym and extensive disinfecting—the event was smaller than years past with 34 teams visiting campus and approximately 750 spectators throughout the nearly 11-hour day.

Both the Band Program’s indoor teams, the Blue Radiance Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion Ensemble had their final regular season performances of the year before Championships in Daytona Beach this weekend—and both teams had a repeat of last week and earned silver medals! The girls of Blue Radiance placed second with a score of 78.31, a near three-point improvement from the week before at Strawberry Crest, in Scholastic Class AAA and also placed first in both captions for general effect, and the percussion team earned the same placement with a score of 76.30 in Scholastic Concert A Class.

The 2021 FFCC season will come to a close this weekend as the two teams travel to Daytona Beach for their Championships performances on Saturday, March 27.
