Remembering Anne Ross

Earlier this week Riverview High School and the community around it lost a member of the Shark family. Mrs. Anne Ross passed away on Wednesday, August 10 after her battle with stage IV breast cancer that lasted nine years.

Mr. Miller had this to say, “I had Mrs. Ross as my English teacher when I attended Riverview as a senior and the impact she had on my life—and countless other lives—is something I will never forget. Mrs. Ross challenged us in how we viewed not only literary works, but the world around us. She taught us to always question what we read and to think critically—to use our imaginations and help others through creativity and servitude. Late last year fellow English teacher Mrs. Hendrickson set up a GoFundMe to help Mrs. Ross with her rising medical expenses, and while Mrs. Ross was grateful for the generosity of others, she asked that all those who donated also donate to a charity to help those beyond our community. That was the nature of Mrs. Ross—always thinking of others. I know I speak for the entire Band Program when we say that our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Ross’ family, friends, colleagues and students during this difficult time. She will be greatly missed.”

The Anne Ross Memorial Scholarship has been established to benefit students of Riverview High School. Donations may be made online at www.gofundme.com/anneross or sent directly to the following address:
