Indoor Percussion Ensemble

About

Unlike the percussion section of the Blue Coat Regiment during the fall marching season, participation in the Riverview Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a voluntary experience in the indoor marching arts that will provide students with an intensive educational season. Students must successfully audition in order to be granted membership. In any season, the ensemble could be comprised of a drumline, cymbal line, front ensemble and visual cast.

The team competes as a member of the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC) in Scholastic Marching Class AA and performs at several regionals throughout the season in January through the end of March for Circuit Championships.

The team is under the direction of Percussion Director John Stacy and the Band Program's Music and Visual Supervisor Alex Crenshaw, who serves as assistant percussion director. Administrative and operational support is led by Band Program Manager Cameron Solomon.

Program History

The Riverview Indoor Percussion Ensemble is a history-making addition to the Band Program: Not only is the team the first of its kind at Riverview High School, making their debut in the 2019 season, they are also the second ensemble in the Band Program’s history to medal at FFCC Championships, taking home bronze in the McCormick’s Division that same year. For the 2021 FFCC season the team competed in the Scholastic Concert A Class comprised of a front ensemble and earned fourth place at Circuit Championships.

Students and staff celebrate after retreat and earning third place in their division with their 2023 program, “Clue”

At 2022 Circuit Championships the team earned their second medal by placing third in the Scholastic Marching Class AA Yamaha Division and earning bronze with a score of 75.30. Capping off the most recent season in 2023, the team repeated their placement from the previous year and again earned bronze, this time with a score of 78.30 in the McCormick’s Division of Scholastic Marching Class AA.
