The End of an Era and New Beginnings
Earlier this week, the Band Program hosted its annual end-of-year banquet at The Regent—and there was much to celebrate!

A night centered around community and looking back on the 2022–2023 school year, the program included traditional, and some non-traditional, awards given to students, and recognition of the outgoing and incoming Booster Board members and top Booster volunteers, fundraisers and sponsors.

The Band Program also held one final farewell to its three retiring staff members: Director John Davis, Staff Director Emeritus and Program Administrator Travis Miller and Staff Photographer Michelle Miller—all of whom have been with Riverview for at least 13 years. Mr. Davis’ tenure began in 2007 with a brief stint away as a peer evaluator for the school district before moving abroad to Australia and then returning home, and Travis and Michelle joined the Band Program during their sophomore and freshman year in 2008 and 2007, respectively.
The retiring trio were each presented with special gifts from our Booster Board and family members, and a new award was unveiled in Travis’ honor: the Travis Miller Servitude & Fellowship Award, to commemorate the end of a 15-year stretch with the Band Program. The award’s inaugural recipient was senior Regan Campbell and joins the Alexander E. Crenshaw Service Award and Wayne and Barbara A. Davis Memorial Leadership Award given in honor of our staff members and their families.

The 2022–2023 school year has been yet another in the long and storied history of the Riverview tradition of excellence—a tradition we know will be carried on by new director Robert A. Luster and our students, program staff and Booster Board.
