Yesterday the Blue Coat Regiment’s 2016 marching season came to a close as the kids took the field at H.B. Plant High School for their FMBC State Semi-Finals performance.

The Blue Coat’s day began bright and early with a short rehearsal at 7, followed by breakfast of biscuits and gravy provided by our Booster Board and parents! Shortly after boarding the buses and heading out from Riverview it was time for one last warm-up of the season.

At 12:40pm the Blue Coats stepped onto the artificial turf field at Plant and gave one final performance of “The Address.” As the band exited the field emotions ran high and the students and staff eagerly awaited the results.

Of the 17 bands that descended onto Plant from throughout Florida, the Blue Coats placed 7th with a score of 83.85—the highest FMBC score in the history of the Riverview Band Program. Other notable placements include the percussion section placing 9th overall and the color guard placing 5th overall.

“All of our students this year experienced tremendous growth and definitely rose to every challenge myself and the rest of the staff put them through,” said Mr. B, Director of Instrumental Music. He continued, “I really cannot be more proud of what we’ve accomplished this season—earning Riverview’s first block score and earning the highest score the band has ever received are nice, but they’re nothing compared to seeing our kids come together with the same goal of achieving greatness.”

A big thanks to our Program Staff, Booster Board, volunteers, friends and fans for all your support this season!
