The Blue Coat Regiment Ends Their 2015 Tour

Yesterday the Blue Coat Regiment took part in the Florida Marching Band Coalition Class 4A State Championships at Gaither High School. The Regiment competed in the semi-finals portion of the event which, due to the threat of rain throughout the evening, was moved inside the gym - this resulted in all bands performing at a standstill, meaning only the captions of individual, ensemble and general effect music, percussion and color guard were judged.

Despite not having any drill to go along with the music the band had their strongest performance to date.

“You could feel the energy and intensity in their playing, and even their step-outs and visuals,” said Mr. Miller, Assistant Marching Band Director.

The band ended the night with our seniors on the field for the awards ceremony and taking home a trophy for 10th place with a score of 47.8 out of 60 (due to the adjustments made for it being a standstill show).

Director Mr. B had this to say, “I want to stress that 10 is just a number - the band’s performance was their best they had all season long, and that is all we ask of our students, so to say I am proud is an understatement. This has been a great first year of teaching for me and I’m honored to have shared it with the incredibly talented students, parents and staff at Riverview.”
