Percussion Builds on Momentum, Takes Home Silver at Premiere

Coming off the heels of the Blue Radiance Winter Guard’s bronze medal performance at their own 2022 Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit Premiere, the Indoor Percussion Ensemble was eager for their own Premiere performance in Orlando and to prove themselves after last year’s season of rebuilding and focus on fundamentals training.

Coming back for 2022 as a marching unit and utilizing their training after ending the 2021 season as a concert ensemble, the team performed in the middle of the first round of Scholastic Marching AA Class. Given the schedule and location of the competition, the team was unable to have their typical morning rehearsal and only had their warm-up in the lot beforehand on site—but it did not stop them.

Despite the team’s relative newcomer status, the students earned a score of 67.15 and took home silver with a first place finish in the visual effect caption.

Both the Indoor Percussion Ensemble and Blue Radiance Winter Guard have had strong starts to the indoor season and will now move on to regular competitions. The winter guard is up first on February 12 at Durant High School, followed by the percussion on February 19 at Plant City High School.
