“With a score of 66.25…” Times two!

On Saturday both of the Riverview Band Program’s teams—the Blue Radiance Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion Ensemble—took the floor at Plant City High School for a Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit regional. For the winter guard, it was their second time at Plant City having performed there for Premiere in late January, and for percussion it was just their second time performing during the season following their February 5 Premiere.

Both teams had late enough performance times allowing them to each have rehearsal in the morning. The winter guard was on first with their program, “For a Moment,” and what a moment it was!

Earning a score of 66.25 the team placed first in Scholastic Class AAA beating out seven other teams and sweeping the captions of equipment, design analysis and general effect. While the team consistently places in the top three “medalist” spots, this performance was the first gold medal for the team since the 2018 season.

Seeing their winter guard counterparts earn first place served as a rallying point for the percussion and a few hours later they presented their program, “A Single Step,” and in what can only be described as programmatic synergy, they also earned a score of 66.25.

A 66.25 earned the Indoor Percussion Ensemble their second silver medal of the season and continues the teams trajectory of building on their fundamentals built in the fall and 2021 indoor season.

Next, both teams will perform together again at the Band Program’s home show, the Riverview Showcase of Champions on Saturday, February 26.
